Evaluate a candidates articulated career goals, long term vision, and realistic growth trajectory across levels. This includes short term plans for the next two to three years, desired skills and domains to develop, milestones for progressing from individual contributor to senior or staff roles, and consideration of managerial versus technical career paths. Interviewers look for alignment between the role and the candidates aspirations, evidence of intentional career choices, examples of past progression or steps taken toward goals, and metrics used to measure growth. The topic covers domain specific trajectories (for example product management, engineering, design, marketing, or recruiting), pathways to staff or leadership, mentorship roles taken, and concrete plans for acquiring capabilities needed at higher levels.
